Paris Bordone

Paris Bordone (1495 with Trévise - January 19th 1570 with Venice) painter of the Venetian school.

He was the pupil of Titien, of which he excited, says one, the jealousy by his talent, and fixed himself at Venice. He was called in France in 1528 by François Ier, made the portrait of this prince and several ladies of his court, and returned filled richnesses.

Bordone was born in Trévise, and entered the bottega of Titien. Vasari, with which one owes almost all that one knows of him, affirms that it did not spend much years with Titien, and that it endeavoured to imitate the manner of Giorgione.

Its chief of work is the Anneau of Saint-Marc .
