Parion
Parion (in Greek old Πάριον ), today Kemer in Turkey, is a Greek Cité of Mysie located on the Hellespont, between Lampsaque and Priapos.
Founded by colonists of Érétrie and Paros, the city is re-elected for its sanctuary of Eros. It also has a oracle of Apollon transported from the city close to Adrastéia, for which the Hermocréon architect sets up, with the hellenistic time a remarkable furnace bridge at the same time by its size - he is long of a Stade.
At the time of Auguste, the city becomes Roman colony.
The Vie of saint Onésiphore attests existence of a Christian community with Parion as of the end of the 2nd century. The city is a évêché Suffragant of Cyzique before becoming, at the 7th century, a Archevêché autocéphale then, under Andronic II Paleologist, a metropolitan seat, finally removed in 1354.
