Paradigm (linguistic)
paradigm
In Linguistic, a paradigm indicates at the same time a class of words being able to be used for a particular Syntagme and each element of a class. One thus opposes the syntagmatic Axe, or spoken Chaîne and the paradigmatic Axe, which indicates a virtual list of forms being able to take seat at a certain place of this connected speech. For example, any word of the class of the Verbe S can take seat in a verb phrase, but no Substantif can occupy the place of a verb.
