Paol Keineg
Paol Keineg , (Quimerc' H, Finistere, February 6th, 1944), Poet and Breton Playwright.
Supervisor of externat in Pont-l'Abbé, Quimper, Brest. License of Modern Letters, University of Western Brittany, 1968. Substitute teacher with Morlaix, then Brest. It is put at the door of teaching in 1972, without official justification, but for political reasons (it was militant Breton Democratic Union). It joined Jean-Marie Serreau, with the Theater of the Storm, which puts in scene its first part, Red Spring Bonnets, then is found with unemployment, works as ironmonger with naval repair. It starts in 1974 a training course of welder to the F.P.A. of Rennes, to which it is brilliantly received. Immediately afterwards, it leaves Brittany for California, where it exerts clandestinely and briefly the trade of welder, for lack of work permit, but he is also male domestic help, gardener, painter, etc He learns English. During a certain time, it will make the shuttle between Europe and North America. In 1977, it is registered at the University Brown (Providence, Rhode Island). It receives there its doctorate in letter (pH. D) in 1981. He teaches mainly in Dartmouth College, Brown University, and is now in Duke University (Durham, North Carolina), after having been professor invited to Berkeley and Harvard. He is the father of the singer Katell Keineg.
