Pancheraccia

Pancheraccia is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Corse and the Corsica area .

Geography

The commune is sitée between the plain of Aléria and mountain. A chart of Corsica at the time Roman exposed to the Chapelle Sixtine of Rome mentions a village called " Panche Rattia". A detail tending to prove that the village, located between the interior and the Eastern plain, existed already per hour when the Roman Empire extended in the Mediterranean. Because Pancheraccia, 200 inhabitants, commune of the canton of Bustanico, is located only at one score of kilometers of Aléria. Principal village to its hamlets of Casaperta and Frassiccia, it extends from medium mountains to the Eastern plain, offering at the same time realities of the interior and those of the littoral, on the agricultural level in particular. The breeding, caprine and porcine, is represented there, as much as the culture of the vine and citrus fruits. In short, Pancheraccia is the perfect short cut of Corsica.

Notre-Dame De Pancheraccia

The opuscule which one gets for the vault Notre-Dame de Pancheraccia tells the history of the appearance as follows: " In the course of the 18th century, a child from twelve to fourteen years had gone with his mother in glazing bar to three fifteen minutes of the village of Pancheraccia, to make faggots. As she had been mislaid and that the hour advanced, she started to cry, complaining to be thirsty, when suddenly, the Blessed Virgin appeared to him and asked him why she cried. The child answered: " I was mislaid and I have soif". With these words, the Virgin, making a hole in the ground, made some spout out a little water and says to him: " Wood thus and will tell the population of this village to come to build a vault ici". " Yes, known as the child, but people will not believe me pas". And the Blessed Virgin answered him: " For proof, here a sign of ineffaceable cross on your hand, and within one year, you will not be any more this monde". The event checked this prophecy. The village of Pancheraccia counted only one poor population of two hundred hearts. Nevertheless, all are reflected with work: the maquis was deforested, the levelled rock and the vault built with the Madonna of Pancheraccia. About 1850, the old statue was replaced by a white marble statue. The witnesses of the ceremony transfer flashes to crown the old statue at the time when it was withdrawn his niche. The marble statue going back to 1848 is that which one venerates today still. It represents the Blessed Virgin, upright, bearing on its left arm, the Jesus child who holds the world in his mains".
