Palate of Antoniadis

The Palate of Antoniadis , of the name of its silent partner, Sir John Antoniadis, which, in 1860, wanted a villa inspired by the Château of Versailles is in the middle of a field of greenery inhabited since antiquity.

The librarian of famous the Library of Alexandria, Callimaque (- 310/-240) there had his dwelling.

Located halfway between the airport and the station Sidi Gaber, this field accommodates the Muséum of natural history of Alexandria as well as the zoological garden. It is bordered in the south by the channel el-Mahmoudya and the road of the Cairo by the Delta.

The gardens of the palate were used a long time to organize a floral exposure whereas the palate itself was used as royal residence for the hosts of the king Fouad {{Ier}} of Egypt when this last was with the Palate of Montaza.
