Palacio Salvo

The Palacio Salvo is a building of the town of Montevideo drawn by the architect Mario Palanti. It was inaugurated in 1925 and with its 95  meters height and its 27  stages, it was according to the Uruguyans the tower of the highest South America during several years. It is with the corner of Avenida 18 of Julio and the Plaza Independencia.

Of eclectic style very criticized by many architects of its time and very characteristic silhouette, it became a building emblematic of the city and a witness of the years of prosperity of the city during the first decades of the 20th century.

The same architect contruisit a building of style similar to Buenos Aires: the Palacio Barolo.
