The P6 are Locomotives with vapor of provision of Essieu: 130 built for the royal Railroads of Prussia (KPEV) . These Mogul was intended for a universal use, but more particularly for the towing of passenger train. For this purpose, according to the plans of the engineer Robert Garbe, the firm Lokomotivfabrik Hohenzollern of Düsseldorf constructed a first prototype in 1902. Between 1903 and 1910, 278 specimens were carried out. Thanks to these driving wheels of 1,60m, this machine was authorized at a speed of 90 km/h and could tow 360 tons to 55 km/h on the level.

They were however quickly supplanted by the P8 of the type 230 which had more a great power and a better adherence, the G5 (of the same provision of axle), the G7 and the G8 which they, offered a much better tractive effort because of their smaller driving wheels. The P6 were thus " reléguées" on the secondary lines of Prussia-Eastern. Later, the engines still in service in 1925 were registered in the series 37 with the creation of DRg.

The armistice council took in 1919 nineteen of these machines to allot them to French networks.
