Oualata
Oualata (in Arab: ولاته) is a city of the south of the Mauritania, in Africa. The Soninke S built there one of the oldest cities of the African continent. The current city founded in VIIe century and was integrated into the Empire of Ghana. It was destroyed in 1076 and was restored in 1224, becoming again a commercial station on the roads of the Sahara. Oualata knew its apogee in XVe century, when caravaneers and well-read men made stage there and called it shore of eternity .
Oualata is made conspicuous by the frontages of its houses, is richly decorated and repainted after each rain season.
