Oswald Pohl
Oswald Pohl (June 30th 1892 - June 7th 1951) was an officer Nazi and a Obergruppenführer (equivalent: general lieutenant) S. As a director of the WVHA (= services of administration and economy of the S), it organized the exploitation of all that came from the Jews since the Concentration camps.
Born the June 30th 1892 in Duisburg-Ruhrort, he is the son of the metal worker Hermann Otto Emil Pohl and Auguste Pohl (born Seifert). It was the fifth of a family of eight children. After having finished the school in 1912, it engages in the navy. During the First World War, it is sent in the Baltic and on the coast of Flandres. Pohl also goes to school of the navy, and becomes treasurer on April first 1918. It then passes the majority of its time to Kiel and Marie the October 30th of the same year.
At the end of the war, Pohl goes to school commercial and also starts to study the right to the university of Kiel. It however will drop the university, and becomes treasurer of the Löwenfeld brigade of the irregular forces. Its work will bring it to Berlin, in High Silesia and in the basin of the Ruhr. In 1920, it joint new navy of the Weimar Republic (Reichmarine). Pohl is transferred to Swinemünde in 1924. In 1925 Pohl joint SA, then the Left national-Socialist and receives number 30842 on February 22nd 1926. It meets Heinrich Himmler in 1933 and becomes its protected. It is named chief of the administrative department for this one and obtains the rank of SS-Standartenführer in February 1934.
June first 1935 it is named treasurer of Reich and chief of the administration of the S and then sets up the organization which will take care of the administration of the concentration camps.
Pohl breaks with the church in 1935 and becomes four years later chief of the Central Office of Administration and Economy, who belongs to the S, and of the Central Office of the Construction, which belongs to the ministry for the interior. February 1st 1942, these two organizations are gathered under the name of " SS-Wirtschafts-Verwaltungshauptamt" , or WVHA (Central Office of the Administration and the Economy S), which Pohl directs. This organization has as a task the organization of the Concentration camps (housing, food, medical care, etc). Pohl is promoted SS-Obergruppenführer and general of the Waffen-SS on April 20th 1942. December 12th of the same year, it Marie with Eleonore von Brüning after having divorced its first wife.
In 1944, one withdraws hands of Pohl the administration of the concentration camps to entrust this one to the ministry for the armament. Pohl remains in load of the administration of the Waffen-SS until the end of the war. After the German defeat, Pohl hides in Bavaria, then close to Bremem. It is captured by the British troops in May 1946. With 17 other people he is judged by a military tribunal from April 8th to September 22nd 1947, where he is shown of Crime against humanity, of War crime and to have been member of an criminal organization. He is condemned to died on November 3rd 1947.
In 1950 it published a book, Credo. Mein Weg zu Gott , after its reconversion with the Catholicism. There were several petitions on behalf of the members of the Bundestag to ask its leniency but this one was refused by the general Thomas T. Handy. Pohl was hung with the prison of Landsberg the June 7th 1951.
