Origin of the name of India

The name India is derived from name into old Persan for the river Indus (" Sindhi"), the essence of the course is currently at the Pakistan, Sind is besides the name of the frontier Pakistani seaboard province of India.

The official name of the country, registered in the constitution of the Indian Union (1950) is " Bharat" , Hindi word derived from the name in Sanskrit of an ancient Hindu king, whose history can be found in the Mahâbhârata.

The name " Hindoustan" or rather Hindûsthân , (ground of the Hindus into Persan, noted Hindustan in English and which gave Hindustani, the language of the India of North which will be divided in Hindî and Ourdou according to its notation in Arab Devanāgarī or after the Partition of the Indies) was employed since the reign of the Empire moghol (as from the 16th century), but its contemporary use fell in disuse.
