Created the May 20th 1942, the Order of the Patriotic War , thus named for underlining well the national side and typically Russian of the fight against the German S, while discreetly omitting to refer to the Soviet capacity , comprenait' 2 classes' and was to be able to reward all the members for the Red Army , Soldat S, Aviateur S, marine S as well as the Partisan S or the members of the Troupes of safety, without considértion of Grade or origin.

Conditions of attribution

  • 1e class : this order could be decreed for a certain number of acts of war:
    • Army: for the destruction of 1 heavy tank, 2 average tanks or 4 opposing light tanks; destruction of machine-guns or bunkers.
    • Aviation: to have destroyed an objective tactiquement important; for the members of the crew of a heavy bomber having cut down 4 enemy planes or having achieved more than 20 missions; for a light bomber having cut down 7 unfavourable apparatuses; for a fighter pilot having obtained 3 approved victories or having achieved at least 60 missions of war.
    • Navy: to have run or have captured 1 enemy ship.
  • 2nd class :

    • Army: for the destruction from vehicles semi-armoured tanks or 1 or 2 tanks;
    • Aviation: for a light bomber having cut down 6 planes or for a fighter pilot having obtained 2 approved victories.
    • Navy: for a successful unloading.

Evolution

  • Of 1942 with 1945; 1.350.000 Orders of the Patriotic War , whose 324.000 of 1e class and 951.652 of 2nd class , had been decreed.
  • In May 1985, for the 40 E Birthday of the institution of the Order of the Patriotic War , this one was decreed with all the Vétéran S survivors of the Second world war: 7.462.000 war veterans accepted it, of which 2.054.000 of 1e class and 5.408.000 of 2nd class .

Description

  • 1e class : red Star, behind which a sword and a crossed rifle are, on a plate of gilded rays. The center of the circular medallion registered in star carries the words " patiotic war" in letters Cyrillic S, surrounding a gilded hammer and a bill hook. Diameter of 45 Misters
  • 2nd class : Similar that for the preceding badge, if it is not that the rays of the bottom are silver plated.
  • the Ribbon S:

    • 1e class : dark red with a stringcourse centers red clearly;
    • 2nd class : dark red with two edgings of clear red;
  • the original medal was made up of two parts: the first parts was consisted of star, and the second of the rays, the sword and rifle. The second part was aimed behind the first by an axis, on which also the clasp threaded. At the time of the republication in 1985, the star was machined of only one silver part (without counting the clasp).
