Oneztarri
In the Basque language, Oneztarri (" stone of the lightning ") of the words oneztu (" is the contraction; flash ") and arri (" stone "). The name even translated well this belief which wants that the lightning is a stone launched since the stormy cloud. In certain places one says that it is a glare of Silex. In others, a polished stone axe (prehistoric axe?). Lastly, to finish, it is also said that it is an axe of Bronze or of Acier.
The name oneztarri, like ozminarri , oxmearri , ozpinarri , tximixtarri , ozkar , oñaztar and inhar , heard in other areas, answer seems-T with an old myth widely diffused in the European countries. According to this myth, the lightning is a particular stone which, when it falls on ground, introduced there until a depth of seven stages. Then it gradually goes up year per year for, finally, levelling the ground at the end of seven years. From this moment it has the capacity to protect from the bad spirits the house near which it is. It is reported that a native of Ipiñizar (Zeanuri) Vizcaya/Bizkaia, surrounded around his left wrist a plant known as Uztai belar ( uztargi indicates the arc in sky) (grass of the arc in sky) (Rumex crispus) and, of the right hand, it indicated to the cloud the route to follow.

- Tximist means flash out of Basque. The suffix has indicates the article. thus tximist' a' means the flash.
- Tximistarri means flint out of Basque. of Tximist (flash) and arri (stone).
- Tximistargi means electric light out of Basque. Association of tximist (flash, here means rather ( arc ) like the electric arc) and argi ( light ).

Note
There does not exist kind ( male , female ) in the Basque language and all the letters decide. There is thus no association as for French or WHICH decides KI . Example:lau " the figure 4" laou and not lo decides (the letter U deciding like Spanish, or , except in souletin, spoken language in Soule, French province of the Pays Basque where he decides as in French).
