Omar Karamé
Omar Abdul Hamid Karamé (Arab: عمرعبدالحميدكرامي) is a politician Lebanon board born the September 7th 1934. Karamé was Prime Minister Lebanon.
Heir to a family of notable Sunnite S, his political career begins in 1989 when he becomes Minister for education and the culture. Wire of the former Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Karamé, one of the craftsmen of independence in 1943, and brother of the former Prime Minister Rachid Karamé, killed in 1987 in an attack, Karamé is elected for the first time appointed of Tripoli, chief town of North Lebanon, in 1992 then re-elected in 1996 and 2000.
Named chief of the government for the first time the December 24th 1990, it must resign the May 13rd 1992 under the pressure of the street which protests against the high cost of living.
The October 21st 2004, it is again named Prime Minister to replace the resigner Rafiq Hariri. He resigns the February 28th 2005, his government being shown by part of the population to be, in one way or another, person in charge of died of Rafiq Hariri in an attack, the February 14th.
The February 28th 2005, the Lebanese Parliament chooses Karamé like Prime Minister again. It is charged to form a government of national union, while the Syria carries out the withdrawal of its troops of Lebanon. It aims also to prepare the legislative elections having to be held before at the end of May 2005. The opposition “antisyrienne” shows Karamé to seek to delay the electoral deadline and refuses to take part in a government of national union.
