Olu Dara

Olu Dara (born Charles Jones III with Louisville in the the Mississippi in 1941) is a trumpet player, cornetist, guitarist and American singer. It obordété known as musician of Jazz playing with musicians of avant-garde like David Murray and Henry Threadgill.
With its first album under its own name In the World: From Natchez to New York 1998 Dara revealed another aspect of its musical personality: leader and singer of an orchestra immersed in the tradition Afro-American playing an eclectic mixture of Blues of Jazz and Folk with additions of Funk of African popular music and Reggae. The album Neighborhoods followed in 2001 in a similar vein (with guests like Dr. John and Cassandra Wilson).
The Rappeur Nas (Nasir Jones) is the son of Dara. He encouraged his father to record the music which he played with his orchestra and he is invited on a track of the album In the World . Dara exploits of the Cornet the piece " Life' S.A. Bitch" album of the beginnings of Nas Illmatic in 1994. In 2004, it sings and plays of the trumpet on " Bridging the Gap" album Street' S Disciple .
Olu Dra travelled to Africa and Europe. It received the name " Olu Dara" of a priest Yoruba at the time of its return to the United States.
