Olivier de Kersauson

Olivier, Viscount of Kersauson de Pennendreff (the name Kersauson comes from Breton the Kêr , house, city and Saozon , English, Saxons), captain with the long course, called the Admiral , was born with Bonnétable (the Sarthe), the July 20th 1944. Its ancestors illustrated themselves in the French history since one of its aïeux would have ordered the fleet of Saint Louis left to the Croisade S.

Olivier de Kersauson is 7th of a family of 8 children. His/her brother Yves de Kersauson became admiral after a career in the Navy where it directed the DRM (Direction of the military information).

Olivier de Kersauson started to sail close to Morlaix. Teenager, it sails with the Trinity by barring the Cambronne Jean-Marie Le Pen.

In 1964, it carries out its military service on board PEN Duick and meets for the first time Eric Tabarly at the time of a regatta with Saint-Malo. Consequently, it becomes one of the favorite team-members of Tabarly and becomes even the second about it on several PEN Duick . Appreciated for “its force worthy of Hercules, his engagement and his humor” according to Tabarly.

It will remain at the sides of Eric Tabarly until in 1974. It begins then a career independently of Tabarly with good performances at the time of the Route of Rum 1978 (4th on Kriter IV ) or other races. It was then focused on various records, to see section below .

He is owner of the restaurant the Round the world tour with Brest.

Its caustic and cynical remarks made in the Parisian dinners push Jacques Martin to convince Philippe Bouvard to make it take part in the radio broadcast the Famous persons where he camps a character bougon, misogynist and very likely being worth to him the love of the public and the nickname of “the Admiral” who sticks to him with the skin.

In 2007, Olivier de Kersauson was the official godfather of the 39e Course Cruising Edhec (notices commercial of Edhec).
