Olfactive epithelium
The olfactive epithelium is a Muqueuse recovering the roof of the nasal Cavité, whose principal function is the detection of the odorous Molécule S conveyed by the air inspired. This surface consists of nervous cells and glandular cells:
- the nervous cells are bipolar: they present ramifications called dendritic lashes on the side (i.e. towards the nasal cavity), a cellular body located in the first third of the mucous membrane, and a Axone communicating with the olfactive Bulbe at the Vertebrate ones living in air medium.
- the glandular cells , present in the mucous membrane and the Sous-muqueuse secrete the Mucus papering the olfactive epithelium.
