Nyon

Nyon is a common Suisse of the Canton of Vaud, located in the District of Nyon, of which it is the Chef-lieu.

Geography

Nyon is with 25 kilometers in the North-East of Geneva, on banks of the Lac Léman. It belongs to the Coast.

History

It was founded by the Romains between 50 av. J. - C. and 44 av. J. - C. under the name of Noviodunum . It then grew until becoming one of the most important Roman colonies of Switzerland, with a forum, a Basilique and a Amphithéâtre, which was discovered in 1996.
