Nutcase
The nutcase ( Canis lupus nutcase ) is a wild dog Australia N probably introduced by the man during the Préhistoire. It is widespread on most of the Australian territory, particularly north. The term recovers also wild of other territories océaniens or Asian dogs. The nutcase presents common characters with the domestic Chien as with the Loup.
Description
The nutcases are dogs (which belong to the family of canidés) of intermediate size which does not bark, to the drawn up ears, with the tail covered with hard hairs, brown color with white spots. They live alone or in family bands and represent sometimes a true plague for the cattle breeders. They do not run very quickly, but they are enduring and can traverse long distances. They continue their prey until it falls from exhaustion. The nutcases are very prolific and can give birth up to eight small which they put at the world in caves. Those are then nursed for two months and remain very a long time near their parents. They do not have practically any natural enemy; only weakest of them are the prey of the eagles or the snakes. Their only true enemy is the man.
Introduction in Australia
According to estimates based on DNA mitochondrial, the Australian nutcases go down from a very reduced group which would have been introduced approximately 3000 years front JC, that is to say a long time after the arrival of the first men (approximately 50.000 years front JC). They were domestic dogs, though with a dubious degree. They quickly trained a wild population (phenomenon of marronnage), which had an important ecological impact by certainly causing the disappearance of several species. The nutcases évincé continent the indigenous carnivores like the Thylacine or marsupial wolf and the Diable of Tasmanie ( Sarcophilus harrisii , sarcophile satanic), so that these two animal species completely disappeared from Australia (the last having remained in Tasmanie, where the nutcase was not introduced).
