No5el Fiessinger
Christmas, Armand Fiessinger is a French doctor and physiologist, (December 24th 1881 with the Thaon-the-Vosges - January 15th 1946 with Paris).
He is the grandson of Charles Fiessinger, doctor, of Mutzig (Alsace), and the son of CH. Fiessinger, doctor him also in the mounts of the the Jura then in Paris.
It began its studies of medicine in Lyon, and arrived first at the externat in 1900.
In 1904, it was internal Hôpitaux of Paris. He exerted in the service of professor A. Chauffard whom he regarded as his large Master.
During the war of 1914-1918, No5el Fiessinger begins and at the beginning of the conflict it leaves to the face; it is quickly affected at the laboratory of an hospital (Montdidier) where it creates a laboratory of fortune dedicated to the biology of the wounds of war. Its work will conclueront by the publication of a Traité Biology of the wound of war , in collaboration with professor Delbet. Its engagement and its missions at the most advanced stations were worth to him the Military Cross and the Legion of Honor to the military title.
He works in addition on the leavens of the leucocytes (work published in 1920) and the functional exploration of the liver (work published in 1925)
He is incorporated and named doctor of the hospitals in 1920, department head in 1925, professor of experimental medicine in 1931. Six times prize winner of the Academy of Medicine (1910,1915,1917,1918,1924) and three times prize winner of the Academy of Science (1920,1924), it were Montyon price for medicine and the surgery. It accumulates the titles and the honors: deputy manager of the Newspaper of the Experts, vice-president of French medical Press association, President of the Company of compared Pathology, President of the Anatomical Company, Vice-president of the Company of Biology, Officer of the Legion of Honor…
With the retirement of professor Carnot, in 1939, it is named with the pulpit of Medical Private clinic of the Hospital, but the second world war mobilizes it on September 3rd, 1939 with function of consultant of the Army of North (1st Army), and it is only on October 13rd, 1940 under the occupation which it will deal with the pulpit of the Hospital. At the end of his lesson of opening, the general Doctor Mahaut gave the Military Cross to him, so that NR. Fiessinger carried the Military Crosses of the two world wars.
He was elected with the Academy of Medicine in the section medicine on October 15th, 1940, succeeding the famous neurobiologist Pierre Marie.
He is at the origin of discovered disease of Fiessinger-Leroy-Reiter, and elucidated the histogenesis cirrhoses (Thesis of Doctorate in 1908).

It was invested in the medical trade unionism and was President of the Employers' federation of the doctors of the Seine and President of the Confederation of the French medical trade unions (CSMF).
Many rooms in several Parisian hospitals bear the name of the professor Fiessinger (Laennec hospital, Saint-Anthony hospital…).
