Nive
The Nive is a French Rivière Basque Country.
The Encyclopedia of Diderot and Alembert gives the following definition of it:

Nive - river of the Kingdom of Navarre, called Errobi in the language of the country. It descends from the Montagne S of the Low-Navarre , joint with Adour in the ditches of Bayonne, and will be thrown in the Mer with one mile of this city.
It is also celebrates it river of holidays of the small Nicolas, of Sempé and Goscinny.
Etymology
Its name would be according to certain the résulat of long a drift since a name supposed Basque: the Gascon Unibar included/understood in like lo Nibar/lou Nibà then lo Niba/lou Nibe and finally feminized in French to give Nive . The v are a hispanism. But the name could also come from *niv- (river), as Nievre (of will *Nevera).In Basque Language, Nive names Errobi .
Geography
Nive is made up with Saint-Jean-Foot-of-Port of the union of the torrents low-Navarrese:- the Nive de Béhérobie (principal course),
- the Laurhibar,
- the Nive d' Arnéguy.
The throats of Atekagaitz in the south of Itxassou mark its passage in the province of the Labourd. It is on a hillock overhanging its junction in Adour that the town of Bayonne developed.
Nive is appreciated for the sporting Pêche Salmonidés and the practice of the running water sports (Rafting in particular).

Hydrology
The basin of Nive has an extremely important rainfall: average annual pluviometry is of 1.680 Misters the mode of Nive is rain and due to these abundant precipitations, with an influence of very limited nival fusion. It presents risings of winter (October at February) and of end of spring or beginning of summer.
