Nissan Skyline

The Nissan Skyline is a Automobile Top-of-the-range, whose first generation appeared in 1952, and manufactured by the manufacturer Japan board Nissan. It is today with its 12th generation. With the beginning of its career, it was sold under the mark Prince, before the repurchase of this firm by Nissan . This car, mainly sold with the Japan, was made famous in the whole world thanks to its version GT-R, imported in particular with the the United Kingdom and in Australia. Skyline is available in Berline and Coupé. The current version V36 is sold under the name of Infiniti G35, Infiniti being the top-of-the-range branch of Nissan, in North America, South Korea, with Taiwan, the the Middle East and, since the end 2006, in Russia. It will arrive on the European market fine 2008, at the same time as the mark Infiniti.

History

ALSI

First Skyline was marketed in 1952 under the mark Prince as a luxurious car. It was been driven by an engine 1,5 L (1482 cm ³) of 60 ch (44 kw), weighed approximately 1300 kg and could reach 140 km/h. Skyline were available in Berline 4 doors and station-wagon 5 doors.

S50

The S50 series was launched in 1962 and became one of the most desired cars to the Japan. It used the engine G-1 of 70 ch (52 kw). One 1.9 L (1863 cm ³) delivering 91 ch was also available.

In 1954, the version Prince 2000GT was marketed on the Japanese market being given the success of the model of race conceived to take part in the second Grand Prix of the Japan in category GT-II. The version 2000GT was available with two motorizations:

  • S54A: 2.0 L (1988 cm ³) six-cylinder car on line, 106 ch (78 kw)
  • S54B: 2.0 L (1988 cm ³) six-cylinder car on line, 127 ch (94 kw)

In 1966 Nissan and Prince amalgamated.

In 1967 Skyline S57 was equipped with the 1.5 L (1487 cm ³) DOHC, which, with 88 ch (66 kw), was the Japanese engine most powerful of its category.

C10

Skyline C10 of 1968 carried the badge Nissan and used the engine Nissan 1.5 L of S57. One 1.8 L was also proposed. The first Coupé Skyline was presented in 1970.

2000GT

The version 2000GT from now on was sold with a six-cylinder car on line 2.0 L (1998 cm ³) of 105 ch (78 kw)

GT-R

The first Skyline GT-R appeared in February 1969. It was equipped with the 2.0 L (1998 cm ³) carried with 160 ch (119 kw), of a power equivalent to that of the best sport scars of the time, and which also equipped the Nissan R380 with race.

C110

The C110 generation was produced of 1972 with 1977. Four models were available:

  • 2000GT-R - 2.0 L six cylinders in line S20, 160 ch (118 kw)

C211

The C211 generation of 1977 with 1981 proposed only of the six cylinders in ligne.
Version GT-EX replaced the GT-R with an engine with Turbocompresseur, L20ET . It was the first turbo engine to equip a Japanese car.

R31

The R31 generation, produced 1985 with 1989, was the first generation of Skyline to being equipped with the famous engines RB six cylinders on line which will contribute to make Skyline a car of legend in the whole world. R31 was also produced and sold in Australia and South Africa with specific motorizations.

GT-R

The news Skyline GT-R had 4 driving wheels and the engine RB26DETT equipped with 2 turbos developing 280 horses (206 kw).

It was conceived to be used as a basis of homologation for the TRUSTED Group has, being intended for the races of private cars on circuit, with the manner of the BMW m3 and Mercedes-Benz 190 2.5 Evo.

Quickly, its version race was called Godzilla for its impressive performances on the track. R32 GT-R took part in the 1000 touring because race with Bathurst in Australia to contribute vis-a-vis the Holden and Ford V8. It gained several titles in Japan, in Australia. GT-R

In 1996, a limited series derived from the GT-R called NISMO 400R was created, developing 400 ch (294 kw), from where its name.

R34 was produced of 1999 with 2002.

The Skyline GT-R R34 is regarded per many Japan board and through the whole world as one the most effective cars on circuit in the world. It holds in particular many records on track, and gained very many times the Japanese championship JGTC. Many versions different of GT-R R34 were marketed.

V35

The 11° generation of Skyline is produced since 2001 and divides the same platform as the Nissan 350Z. It is in particular equipped with engine VQ35 3.5L of 280 ch, also present in the 350Z. With the the United States, Skyline V35 is sold as a G35 under the mark Infiniti. Skyline V35 was not declined in a version GT-R.

V36

The 12° generation of Skyline was introduced in Japan on November 20th, 2006. For the moment, it is available only in version 4 doors. It is motorized by 2 V6: the VQ25HR (2.5L) and the VQ35HR (3.5L).

GT-R

The news Skyline GT-R is designed to leave in 2008. It gives up the 6 on line for V6 twin-turbo 3.8l of 473ch with 6400tr/min and 587Nm available as of 3200tr/min and until 5200tr/min. It is equipped with one limps with double clutch with six reports/ratios and preserves the integral transmission. The couple between the nose gear and back is controlled according to the conditions of rolling. Damping is ensured by adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers on 3 positions. Nismo

Nismo was also responsible for the engagement of Nissan Skyline GT-R in the championship JGTC of 1994 to 2003, with on the whole 6 pilot titles obtained.

Tuning

Nissan Skyline GT-R, in its versions R 32, R 33 and R34, is very much used for the tuning, because of its excellent base engine, but also for its body of advantage carried towards the sport and its relative weak coùt to the purchase.
