Nicklas Bäckström

Nicklas Bäckström (born the November 23rd 1987 with Valbo in Sweden) is a professional Swedish player of Hockey. Its station of predilection is center but it can also evolve/move with the wings.

Career

Bäckström was selected with the 4th position by the Capitals of Washington at the time of the Repêchage of entry in the LNH 2006. He thus became the fourth selected Swedish player so early behind Mats Sundin (first in 1989) and the Sedin brothers, Daniel and respectively selected Henrik second and third in 1999.

The April 6th 2006, against the Norway, it played its first match with the team of Sweden of hockey with which it then gained the gold medal at the time of the championship of the world 2006. Bäckström played last four match where it integrated the first line in company of Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzén.

The July 10th 2006, it refuses an offer of the Capitals of Washington and decides to play one season more for its club of the Brynäs IF.

The May 21st 2007, Bäckström signs a three year old contract with Capitals.

Nicklas is not to be confused with Niklas Bäckström the goalkeeper Finnois which also evolves/moves in LNH.
