New Bern
New Bern is a city and the seat of the Comté of Craven in North Carolina, with the the United States whose population was of: 23128 inhabitants in 2000. It is located at the confluence of the the Trent and the Neuse, with 140 km in the North-East of Wilmington and with 60 km in the west of the Atlantic Ocean. New Bern is one of the oldest city of the State and was even briefly the capital. Founded by colonists Swiss S, the city owes its name with the capital of this country, Bern.
History
New Bern was founded by Christoph von Graffenried (“ The baron ”), a Suisse of Bernese origin, which arrived in America in 1710. It wished to extend its company as far as America, and, to promote it, applied a generous policy towards the poor which would settle in New Bern. This small town thus became quickly one of the most snuffed vacation resorts Berneses - Baptists especially - who left Switzerland to live in America.In 1893 a young pharmacist of New Bern, Caleb Bradham, developed the “ Brad' S Drink ” which will become, in 1898, the Pepsi Cola. Its pharmacy always exists and is located at the intersection of Middle and Pollock Street in the center town, it shelters today the history Pepsi Store .
