Neuilly-sur-Marne

Neuilly-sur-Marne is a common Frenchwoman of the department of the Seine-Saint-Denis (in the past Seine-et-Oise), in the area Île-de-France. The inhabitants of Neuilly-sur-Marne are the Nocéens .

Geography

The commune is located at 15 km in the East of Paris, on Right Bank of the Marne. The city is crossed in its length by the Trunk road 34.

History

Vestiges of the Paleolithic (tools, Flint) of Nobiliacum , ground of Gallo-Roman Nobiles. The first quotation of the name of the city is gone back to 998 in a charter of Robert the Piles.

With the Revolution, the castle of “Évrard city” was sold to peasants nouveau riches. In 1801 the general Donzelot bought the castle where it accepted his friends Alfred de Vigny and Jean Gigoux. The field was repurchased by the department in 1863 to create a lunatic asylum there. Camille Claudel was interned at the hospital of White House.

April 13rd 1892, the commune of Neuilly-Pleasure is created by decree starting from a third approximately territory of Neuilly-sur-Marne.

The floods of 1910 caused extensive damage.

At the end of 2005, of the riots take place.

Since 2005 a project of installation of the edges of the Marne (near to the hospitals and on the grounds to the psychiatric hospitals) is in hand; in the long term urban green areas and spaces should be born. During the restoration of the Holy church Baudile during 2006, discovered of a sarcophagus mérovingien.
