Neubourg
Neubourg is a common French, located in the department of the the Eure and the area High-Normandy.
Its inhabitants is called Neubourgeois.
Geography
The small town of Neubourg, is the capital of the natural area which bears its name: the plate of Neubourg.
History
Neubourg was the place of some important historical events. It is in Neubourg, with the whole beginning of the 12th century, that the baron S Anglo-Norman S met in died of the king Henri Beauclerc (3rd wire of William the Conqueror), to designate a successor. During this time, one of the nephews of Henri, Etienne of Blois, seizes the Royal Treasury of Winchester. It was the beginning of a English civil war which will finish nineteen years later by the accession with the throne of the angevin of Henri Plantagenêt, the husband of Aliénor of Aquitaine.One can also quote Jacques Charles Dupont of the Eure (1767 - 1855), first president of the provisional government of the Second Republic in 1848, born in Neubourg. D Auzoux, born in a village of the “suburbs”, invented the sectional view of Anatomie that many pupils saw in their class of natural science. There exists besides, a Musée of the Sectional view in Neubourg, gathering several beautiful pieces of the “Auzoux workshops”

Agricultural rich person area , the plate of Neubourg was inhabited as of the Préhistoire in spite of the lack of water. Indeed, it there not of River. Already, at the time Roman, the town of “Novus Burgus” is quoted as being an important center of trade. Crossing point towards large the close cities (Rouen, Évreux, Tweed, Louviers very important with the the Middle Ages), Neubourg was an important place of trade of cattle and agricultural produce. Its market is still recognized today.Currently very dynamic city (the city lodges more employment than inhabitants), the economic activity is of course agricultural but also industrial. One can quote the Plasturgie with the companies Valois, leader of the manufacture of the pumps of aerosol, the food one with Saveur of France-Brossard and the slaughter-houses (Group SOCOPA), the textile with a major pole in Europe of stripping of flax.
Its currency summarizes well the frame of mind of people of the area: “Work is worth richness”.
