Network is an American film carried out by Sidney Lumet, left in 1976.
Synopsis
Howard Beale (Peter Finch), presenter of a television channel, UBS News, whose audience is in freefall, publicly releases what he thinks of the american company, of the lies on which it rests… Its first blow of glare on television will be due to its declaration at the time of the 20:00, by announcing that it soon will draw a ball in the head on line, which would appreciably make go up the TV rating. Howard Beale quickly will become a kind of prophet of modern times of the Americans for whom television is much more real than their own life, television which has an enormous influence on its spectators. All that leaves this small screen can be only true. But Howard Beale will end up wearying, to start with the leaders of its own chain, the truths which he announces, indeed, are at the very least depressing (" your lives are inutiles" , " you are interchangeables" …). Thus it will become the " first man died following a fall of écoute". Network is a sour and cynical criticism on the capacity and the world of television, on the trade which it generates, where all must be reduced to figures, atrates of audience, the detriment of the human one. Faye Dunaway incarnates this wild neocapitalism, dehumanized, it which reduces its own life and all that surrounds it with synopses of series B, formatted for television.
