National union of the Professional Clubs of Tennis shoe (UCPB)

Presentation

On the model of the UCPF (Union of the Professional Clubs of Football), the presidents of the professional clubs of Basket-ball décidérent in May 1995 to found the UCPB. Gerard Maurice, president of the club of Montpellier, was the founder president and very quickly passed the witness to his Vice-president, Rene Goff. Rene Goff, in addition President of PSG Racing Tennis shoe (become starting from 2000 Paris Racing Tennis shoe or PBR), truly launched the institution with actions which refer today. Of 1995 with 2000, it organized several symposiums, redefined the positioning of the professional clubs with respect to the sporting authorities, suggested an economic development plan of the clubs and jeté the bases of the Collective agreement. Having given up the presidency of the PBR in January 2001, it had left the presidency of the UCPB in Gerard Maurice. Gerard Maurice, Founder president of the UCPB, took the presidency in 2001 and had to pass the witness in 2002 because of the disappearance of the club of tennis shoe of Montpellier. The UCPB then returned in a phase of transformation seeing the clubs being able to be from now on represented by their General Managers or their Executive directors. Thus Herve Beddeleem, executive director of the club of Gravelines-Dunkirk took over running 2002. It is since the President of the UCPB.

Objective

The objective of the UCPB is to represent the professional clubs of basketball male within a true employers' federation. The National league of Basketball (LNB) has the role to organize the competitions by delegation of the French federation of basketball (FFBB) but does not have as an aim to ensure the economic development of the professional clubs. The UCPB must thus intervene in all the social domains and economic making it possible the professional clubs to ensure their future of company.

Under the impulse of Jean-Jacques Eisenbach, former President of Nancy, the UCPB signed the collective agreement of the basketball professional masculine in June 2005. Jean-Jacques Eisenbach deceased in March 2006 will have been the most active Vice-president of the UCPB. During ten years it prepared the signature of this convention, first concrete realization of the UCPB on social matters.
