National park Jim Corbett

The National park Jim Corbett is oldest of the national parks of the India. It is located close to the town of Nainital, in the state of Uttarakhand. The park is known for its varied wildlife, like like site of launching of the Projet Tiger . The Corbett national park and the sanctuary close Sonanadi form the Reserve of Corbett tigers.

The park was created the August 8th 1936 under the name of Hailey National Park (Sir Malcolm Hailey was then the British governor of the Plain Provinces). In 1952, five years after the independence of India, it became the Ramganga National Park , of the name of the river Ramganga which crosses it on most of its length. In 1957, one still gave him a new name, Corbett National Park , in the honor of Jim Corbett, legendary hunter become protective of the wildlife, which was especially made know by its huntings for the tiger S and the leopard S man-eaters in the areas of the Kumaon and the Garhwal in the years 1920, and for the accounts which it made thereafter of his adventures, in a series of works like the man-eaters of Kumaon and the leopard man-eater of Rudraprayag , who became great best-sellers in the world entirety.

The wildlife of the Corbett National park includes/understands in particular the tiger, the Asian elephant, the Chital, the Sambar, the Antilope nilgaut, the Gavial of Gange, the royal Cobra, the Muntjac, the Sanglier, the Hérisson, the Renard stealing, the Indian Pangolin, and nearly 600 species of birds.

The park receives thousands of visitors each year. The tourists can find many facilities of lodging there, as well inside as outside the park.
