The town of Nashville is the capital of the State Tennessee, with the the United States. It is located in the northern part of the center of the State, in the Comté of Davidson.

Nashville was a strategic city for the States Confédérés of America during the American Civil War. Today Nashville is a great center of the industry of the disc in the United States and music Country (with its theater of Large Ole Opry). The city is in 2005 the first agglomeration of Tennessee with 1.340.000 inhabitants in his urban surface and 569  891 inhabitants for the city.

Nashville was founded in 1779 under the name of Fort Nashborough , in homage to the hero of the war of Independence, Francis Nash.

Since the Années 1960 Nashville became the second production center musical after New York with the the United States. In 2006 one estimates that its total economic impact is of 6,4 billion dollar S each year and that music industry employs approximately 19  000 people in the area.

But it is the sector of the health care which is most important, before tourism and the music. Nashville is the seat of more than 250 companies, of which the Hospital Corporation off America , the largest private operator of hospital in the world. Other principal industries are the insurances, finance and the edition (especially religious). A film production, small but growing, also exists there: several major films were filmed in Nashville, of which the Green line, The Last Castle, Gummo, Coal Miner' S Daughter and the film of Robert Altman Nashville from which the action occurs in the city.

Three companies of the Fortune 500 have their head office in Nashville: Hospital Corporation off America, Caremark X-ray and General Dollar Corporation (in Goodlettsville).

Sport

The hockeyeurs of the Predators of Nashville evolve/move in National league of hockey since 1998 while the American football is represented in Nashville by a frankness NFL since 1997: the Titans of Tennessee.

At the university level, the Vanderbilt Commodores represent the Université Vanderbilt while the Tennessee State Tigers defend the colors of the Université of State of Tennessee.

A bowl of end of season of American football is held each year since 1998 with the LP Field: the Music City Bowl.

Music

Nashville is regarded as the cradle of the Country music.

Young Buck celebrates it rappor of the famous group G-Links is native of Nashville. Bob Dylan recorded several albums there, accompanied by local musicians, of which mythical Fair Blonde One or Nashville Skyline. More recently groups such as the Kings Off Leon (rock'n'roll, in the line of the Strokes) or the group Be Your Own Fart (shifted rock'n'roll, " jungle") are originating in Nashville. Also let us note that the White Stripes recorded there Icky Thump (album) in 2007.
