Négus

Négus , or ንጉሥ ( negus ) is a word of origin Amharique which means “King”.
Originating in the geez , and of the old kingdom of Aksoum, the title of negus could be carried simultaneously by several big bosses of the “Abyssinie”, which was made up of various “kingdoms”: Shäwa, Godjam, Striped in particular.
The supreme title of negusä nägäst (ንጉሠነገሥት), or “King of the Kings”, is that carried by the emperor of Ethiopia, until the revolution of 1974 - 1975.
The most known negusä nägäst are Ménélik II (1844 - 1913) and Hailé Sélassié I {{er}} (1892 - 1975).
