Mysore

Mysore (or Maïssour ) is an Indian principality corresponding to the current state of Karnataka. Maïssour draws its name from the town of Maïssour which was the capital of the principality.

The founders of the dynasty of Odeyâr are two brothers, Vijaya and Krishna, originating in Dvârakâ in the Goujerat. First of all, vassal of the Kingdom of Vijayanâgara, the kingdom becomes independent of Vijayanâgara in 1565 after the severe defeat of Vijayanâgara to the Bataille of Talikota in front of the Sultanats of Dekkan.

During two centuries which follow, Odeyâr increase their territory considerably. However, in 1755, the marathe Haidar Alî benefits from the young age of the mahârâja to seize the capacity then his/her son Haidar, Tipû Sâhib is installed on the throne with the title of Padshâh.

Tipû Sâhib, combined of the French, east demolishes by the British with Seringapatam in 1799 and the Odeyâr dynasty is reinstalled on the throne, however, starting from 1831, the British regents will have the effective load of the capacity, then the capacity returns between the hands of the dynasty Odeyâr in 1881, Mysore then becoming the first Hindu state in importance of the empire of the Indies.

During the seventy years which follow, Mysore is regarded as a model state.
