My uncle Benjamin

My uncle Benjamin is a film French of Edouard Molinaro, left in 1969.

Synopsis

Under the reign of Louis XV, Benjamin Rathery (Jacques Brel) is country doctor, mainly the poor of the area. It is also a perpetual reveller and a become inveterate womanizer, but only one girl, with which it is madly in love, resists to him: Lever (Claude Jade), the girl of the landlord. But this one intends to yield to the doctor only at the price of a marriage contract out of pocket. Lever is monitored by his/her father, who makes very to protect virginity from his daughter, that it calls his " small capital". Its pretty frimousse, its espieglery, its smiles dissolve Benjamin  ; but, far from being a scatterbrain, Manette is a girl who has character and which knows what she wants and that is seen.

The outspokenness of Benjamin, and its feeling to be equal to noble, will be worth with the commoner who he is to have some small troubles.

Criticism

In the year of grace 1750 prevails Benjamin Rathery, doctor voluntary, marvellous jovial fellow, drinker and amateur of meat pies. He currency with equal of noble and the friendship of the one two is acquired to him royally on the pre one. Faithful follower of the inn and the cabaret, it instigates by his witty remarks a company whose conversation is centered on the strickling of underskirts.

“Ah the Polish ones and the Flemish ones! ”

The time, in spite of its roughness, belongs to the pleasure present on the tables and in the beds. All is absorbed and collapsed in the joy and good mood with rapid departures by the windows on arrival of the husbands.

The feasts bring closer the spirits. One pink the menial, one embraces the posterior constrained ones and forced, one is avenged for the affronts while cocufiant in the shade.

All this gallery of ribalds carries out the round of the life, where it is only necessary to benefit from the moment which passes without hatred towards anyone.

The good people of the campaigns, whose life expectancy is less, divert themselves by ingurgitant the meats and by coursant the maidservant in the fields.

Excesses of table sometimes are fatal but the wisdom and the philosophy of some in front of the consequences of these abuses are noble by acceptance to pay the price of them.

The verb, controlled perfectly by Benjamin who is not of the nobility but has of it grammar, fact of him the spokesperson of the peasants who it defends.

Scorning the money, it gave of meetings of various origins, respected of all, its entry always means joy and happiness.
