My Nane Friend
My Friend Nane is a novel of Paul-Jean Toulet published in Paris in 1905. It traces the portrait soft-land-mark of a Demi-mondaine of the Belle time.
My Friend Nane is a novel with the first nobody impresses erotism, of humor and melancholy. A Narrator made there the account of its relations with Nane (of name of war Hannaïs Dunois), since their meeting until their separation.
The central figure of the novel is the mirror. There exist two versions of the meeting, and two versions of separation (death and the marriage, in this order). The central chapter, Nane-with-mirror , are double. The characters go by couple: couples friends prostitutes, spring Primavérile and it sinks Noctiluce, couple of industrialists (one which maintains it at the beginning, the other which she marries at the end), etc
Nane whose features do not announce a sharp intelligence , exerts on the narrator, refined, cultivated, intelligent, a true fascination. Wishing over all not to be not easily deceived, it dissimulates it under one scintillating irony.

To tell the truth (...) I never sought the monopoly of his tenderness. Hadn't this been of selfishness? In addition to it would be necessary some to have the means.
