Muzillac
Muzillac ( Mezuliac in Gallo, Muzilheg into Breton, marked) is a common French, located in the department of the Morbihan and the area Brittany.
Geography
In 2004, the commune of Muzillac gathers 4200 inhabitants. It is located at 30 km of Valves (station, hospital, colleges, university), to 90 km of Nantes (airport). Located in Southern Brittany, in seaside, Muzillac profits from a oceanic climate: shone upon and with weak pluviometry, soft the winter and moderated the summer. Animations are numerous thanks to the cultural commission, with 53 associations, and the union of the tradesmen.
History
- - 300.000 years: the cut tools, found in cliffs of Cromenac' H (Ambon) are the oldest traces the human ones in the area.
- - 5000 to 2000: men draw up Dolmen S and drive out with polished stone axes.
- - 1700: tumuli are built like tombs. That located between Borough pol. and Penmur exists until 1840.
- - 400: Celtic , the Vénètes occupy the area between the Laïta and the Vilaine.
- 56 after JC: they are overcome by Jules César.
- 200: a Roman Way passing by Lannac' H, Brehoty and Kerlann connects Portus Nammetum (Nantes) to Darioritum (Valves).
- 450 to 650: Celts arrive to us of in addition to Manche with their habits and their language which will become the Breton.
- Fine 9th century: the Norman ones unload on several occasions. They are beaten in 890 with Questembert.
- 1070 : one finds for the first time: Musillac, Mezuillac but the parish is called Bourg Paule or Borough pol.
- 1123: the lord Rioc de Musullac is mentioned in the Cartulaire de Redon; its armorial bearings is “mouths with the leopard lioness of hermines”.
- 1248 : Alain de Musullac accompanies St Louis at the time of the 7th Croisade.
- 1288 - 1432: the Room of the Accounts of Brittany is installed in Muzillac.
- 1419 : St Vincent Ferrier prèche on the square of the church of Borough pol.
- 1678: Ursuline S arrive at Muzillac there to create a convent and to educate the young girls.
- 1790 : Muzillac becomes common and place chief of canton, Bourg Paul remains the parish.
- 1791 : the Ursulines, the monks of Prières are driven out and their goods are sold with the biddings.
- 1815 : June 10th, the imperial troops are pushed back by the Chouan S and the “escoliers” of Valves. This episode of “small chouannery” occurs between Penmur and Pénescluz. A sound and light revived this event.
- 1835 : construction of a town hall school (current Tourist bureau), with the stones of an old barracks of customs, located road of Valves.
- 1842 : construction of a vault St Julien (current room Adelaide).
- 1900 : construction of a middle-class house which will become town hall and soon Espace Mauduit.
- 1903 : Muzillac is served by a railway line. It will be unused in 1947, the building of station became a social housing and the way a way of hiking.
- Fine 19th century: the Breton language does not seem used any more in Muzillac.
- 1929 : the bell-tower of the church of Boug pol. is set fire to by the Foudre. It will be demolished and replaced by the church Sainte Therese, nearer to Muzillac.
- 1931 : Rene Bazin makes appear his novel “Magnificat” whose action proceeds in major part around Muzillac.
- 1962 : spectacle of inauguration of the site with Penmur.
- 1982 : purchase by the municipality of the buildings of the old convent of the Ursulines.
- 1987 : Carlos and Nelly Robert arrange the Moulin with paper of Penmur bought by the municipality in 1970.
- 1990: opening of the Center of Animation of the Old Convent .
- 2002 : the Allano family moves in Muzillac.
- 2006 : The commune presents its new logo
