Mustasaari (Helsinki)

Mustasaari , in Swedish Svartholmen (in French the black island ), is an island of the south of the Finland located in the Golfe of Finland, in the west of the downtown area of Helsinki. The island belongs to the district of Lehtisaari and to the district of Munkkiniemi.

The island is largely covered with forest. Two satellite small islands, Hevossaari and Haapasaari, are located at the south and are separated from a few tens of meters of the principal island. The inhabited island nearest is Kaskisaari (80 meters in the west), the northern point of Lauttasaari being located at just 250 meters.

The island belongs to the Église évangélique-Lutheran of Finland which has there a center of activities of outdoor and a Chapelle. One finds on Mustasaari a small beach and a path of discovery
