Movement for a republican and social alternative

The Mouvement for a Republican and Social Alternative ( MARCH) is a French political party.

It was created in 2003 under the name of Manifeste for a Republican and Social Alternative , following the resignation of four national secretaries of the Republican movement and citizen of Jean-Pierre Chevènement, among which the former magistrate Eric Halphen, in order to protest against what they perceived like a drift droitière of MRC.

MARCH since was established within the left “mouvementist” and, on several occasions, made joint list with the French Communist party. Its president is Eric Coquerel and his spokesperson Claire Pessin-Garric

In 2005, it was invested in the countryside for not with the referendum on the European constitutional treaty, while taking part in particular in the united collectives at the national level and the local level. Thereafter, It took part in their continuation, in the Collectifs of May 29th which wrote the Charter antilibérale, like to the National collective of initiative for a gathering anti-liberal of left and common candidatures, for the presidential election of 2007.

In September 2006, MARCH entered under discussion with the Republican left in order to lead to the unification of the two movements. The two movements amalgamate on March 24th, 2007 and give rise to the republican March-Left.
