Motown

Motown (or Motown Records ) is a American Recording company which belongs to the Universal Music Group. Motown was created in January 1959 by Berry Gordy with Detroit in the Michigan. The name Motown is the contraction of Motor Town, the nickname of Strait which was then the capital of the automobile production.

While launching Motown, Berry Gordy aimed to allure at the same time the black public and the white general public with songs of Soul and Rhythm and blues more accessible than the production from competitor labels such as Stax. It organized its company in true a factory tubes in which nothing was left randomly: it was surrounded of the best type-setters, the most promising interpreters and took a care particular to the production.
