Moor
See also: Moors
The moor is an association of Plante S which seldom exceeds the stage of shrubs and pushing on poor mediums, often acid and Oligotrophe S. the Arbre S, the pines, there were introduced by the man or spontaneously appeared after disappearance the large ones and small wild herbivores or of breeding.
Presentation
In the European moor, one finds especially Bruyère S, Genêt S, Buis and Ajonc S. One finds moors on all the moderate Zone. In France they are located mainly in the Massif Central and the Armorican Massif. In Germany, the most known moor is the Lüneburger Heide (moors of Lünebourg).According to the rock substrate and the localization one can differentiate two types of moor: the silicicolous moor and the calcicole moor .
The silicicolous moor
The silicicolous moor, moor mésophile or waste develop in the coastal regions with the oceanic Climat, wet all the year with moderate temperatures. The weakness of the insolation reduces mineralization, the litter is not very abundant and acid. Scrubbing is important. The grounds are acid (pH close to 4) and can give Podzol S.The origin of this formation is double. The wind obstructs the growth of the trees (strong evaporation, breaking of the branches) and scrubbing reduces their food. But the overgrazing of the Sheep S and the abuse fires of regeneration of the moor to eliminate the Heather S in order to support the Gorse S, benefit the plant species acidophile the such Canche and the Molinie. The surface horizon, badly protected can be carried by the streaming.
This formation includes/understands different Bruyère S ( Erica tetralix ) and ( Erica cinerea ), of the Ajonc S ( Ulex minor ) and ( Ulex europaeus ), the Callune, the flexuous canche ( Deschampsia flexuosa ). In the wet places associate with it the Sphaigne S, the Drosera and the blue Molinie ( Molinia caerulea ).
Other species coexist: pennate Brachypode (Brachypodium pinnatum) which supplants Molinie, the Fougère eagle (Pteridium aquilinum), Serratule of the dyers (Serratula tinctoria) or Germandrée scorodoine (Teucrium scorodonia).
The calcicole moor
It develops in the sedimentary basins, on grounds limestones especially exposed to the South (Bassin of Paris and Bassin of London). They are lawns on thin grounds (of type Rendzine). The vegetation is a formed lawn of the Selestrie ( Selestria coerula ), the Brachypode ( Brachypodium pinnatum ), the Hélianthème ( Helianthemum ), the Coronille ( Coronilla varied ), the Aubépine ( Crateagus oxyacantha ), the Genévrier ( Juniperus communis )…
