Moondog

Moondog (of its true name Louis Thomas Hardin) is an American musician (Marysville, Kansas, May 26th 1916 - Münster, Germany, September 8th 1999).

Artist of street during more than twenty-five years, with New York then in Germany, his music is rich many influences (traditional musics of the Moyen-âge, Indiens of America or the Jazz), it built a work original, avant-gardist and rather unclassable among whom: Moondog and his Honking Geese (1955), Moondog Caribea Sextet/Oo Debut (1956), More Moondog (1956), Moondog in Europe (1977/78).

Marginal musician, it knew a made existence of wanderings (in particular in Europe where it spent the last years of his life and collaborated with Stephan Eicher).

One of its titles will know a posthumous celebrity, Bird' S spangle , a homage to the musician jazz Charlie Parker called " Bird" , become the sample of famous the Get move there is DJ English Mr. Scruff.

Biography

1922 : Hardin visits with his/her father an Indian reserve in Wyoming;
1932: Hardin is made blind by the explosion of a stick of dynamite;
1933: Hardin follows courses to the school for blind man of St Louis;
1943: courses of music follow in Menphis;
1947: Hardin is made call Moondog;
1950: carry out its first recordings Drum Beats, Organ Rounds, Moondog Symphony.
