Montéhus
Gaston Mardochée Brunschwig known as Montéhus (or Monthéus ) French chansonnier. Paris July 9th 1872 - December 1952.
It was the elder one of a family of 22 children. It starts to sing at 12 years, and publishes its first song ( With the comrade of the 153ème ) in 1897. Its song Glory with the 17th , this regiment of soldiers which refused to draw on a demonstration from vine growers, made known it in 1907.
He was the friend of Lénine at the time of his exile in France, and sang in first part of his conferences.
Nevertheless, during the war of 14-18, he sang militarist songs. So it receives the Military Cross in 1918. It returns to its convictions in 1919 by composing the Red Hillock .
In the years 1930, it launches out in the policy: it adheres to SFIO and follows the Popular front. You will find in " Anthology of the French song year 1936" an evocative title: " Go ahead Léon". In 1942 it is constrained to carry yellow star. It receives the Légion of honor hands of Ramadier in 1947. Forgotten of all, it dies out in 1952.
