Mohammed Ali Halouani , born the September 21st 1947 with Sfax, is a politician Tunisia N.

Doctor in Philosophy of the University of Paris I, it follows the occupation of professor of philosophy to the Faculty of Arts of Sfax.

Member of the Movement Ettajdid, successor of the Tunisian Communist party, and the democratic Initiative, an alliance of several personalities independent of left, it presents himself to the presidential elections of October 24th, 2004.

According to him, the true goal of its candidature is “to benefit from this legal breach which the elections represent to make arrive a message at the Tunisian people and say to him, in a clear way and without ambiguity, which the current mode which known as democratic, pluralist, is far from the being”. Its party and the coalition which supports it considers “that there is, on the contrary, a deterioration of the political climate in Tunisia, a species of dramatizing of the democracy, a democracy of frontage”.

These criticisms institutional do not prevent it from recognizing at the same time the assets carried out by Tunisia under the control of the presidents Habib Bourguiba and Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, while declaring in particular: “We are conscious that the country made appreciable progress on the level of education, health, economy and emancipation of the woman, but we should not sleep on our bay-trees”.

He gains only 0,95% of the votes compared with 94,49% for president Ben Ali.
