Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti محمدحسینیبهشتی (in Persan), (October 24th 1928 - June 28th 1981) was a monk Iran IEN, secretary-general of the Islamic Republican party and chief of legal system of the Islamic Republic. He was assassinated at the same time as more than 70 members of the Islamic Republican party the June 28th 1981.

Beheshti had been born with Esfahan and studied at the same time at the university of Teheran and under Allameh Tabatabaei with Qom.

Between 1960 and 1965, it carried out the Islamic center of Hamburg, where it was in load of the spirituality of the religious Iranian students in Germany and Western Europe. In Hamburg, he also worked with Mohammad Khatami and was one of his influences. Since the beginning of the years 1960, it was associated with activities against the mode of the Shah and was stopped several times by the secret police of the Shah, SAVAK.

After the Iranian Revolution, it became one of the members of the Council of the revolution of Iran and soon becomes its president. In the first Parliament post-revolution, it directs the Islamic Republican party with Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. It envisaged to present to first election presidential, but it withdrew after Ayatollah Khomeini known as with Rafsandjani and with Khamenei that it preferred that of the not-monks are inevitably presidents, which led to the support by the Islamic Republican party initially of Jalaleddin Farsi, then of Abolhassan Banisadr.

Beheshti died assassinated the June 28th 1981, when a bomb exploded during a conference of the party. The official version is that the bomb was posed by the Mujaheddin-e-Khalq, which was mélés there at this time with a laying campaign of bombs and assassinations against the official ones of the Islamic Republic. A popular theory in Iran east that Rafsandjani would be responsible for the bombre, based on the fact that Rafsandjani would have left the meeting a few minutes only before the explosion. Ironically, there exist as similar theories considering as Beheshti would be behind the sudden death of Mahmoud Taleghani.
