Miss Julie

Miss Julie ( Fröken Julie ) is a Play of August Strindberg written and represented in Sweden in 1888.

It was adapted several times to the cinema, in particular in 1951 by Alf Sjöberg (see Miss Julie (film, 1951) ) and more recently in 1999 by Mike Figgis.

Summary

At the end of the 19th century, the day before the Holy Jean, the father of Julie, a count, left for the evening. Julie benefits from it to make a small festival with her servants, Kristine and Jean. Julie invites this last to dance. Initially, he refuses, not wanting to tarnish his reputation. Kristine recalls it to the order and it ends up accepting. A little later, when Jean and Julie returned in the kitchen, Kristine falls asleep. It is at this time that Julie starts to become provocante towards Jean and tries to allure it…
