The Minas Gerais (MG) is one of the federate States Brésil, located at the North-West of the South-east of the country.
It has a surface of 588.383 km ² and counts approximately 20.595.499 inhabitants (source IBGE 2006).
Its climate is tropical with an average of annual temperature of 21°C.
Its capital is Belo Horizonte.
Principal cities: Belo Horizonte, Contagem, Juiz de Fora, Montes Claros, Uberlândia, Governador Valadares, Uberaba, Barbacena and Itabira.
This State is rich in mines of invaluable stones and in particular of the mines of Émeraude. Its name in Portuguese means besides: " Mines communes" , i.e. mines depending on the Brazilian State.
The historical city of Ouro Preto is registered with the World heritage of UNESCO.
the 250 skeletons and craniums discovered in the site of Cerca large located in the karst of Lagoa Santa in the Minas Gerais at Brazil, assure to the origins non-mongoloïdes these first populations. The results of the comparative morphological analyzes based on nine craniums of Cerca large indicate a similarity with that of Luzia. The area of Minas Gerais abounds in many archeological sites with an excellent conservation in the skeletons and artefacts of the Pléistocène and Holocène. The stratigraphic analyzes made it possible to go back the human skeletons to Cerca large during the time hinge from Holocene and Pleistocene between 8.000 years and 12.000 years.
