Milly Buonanno

Milly Buonanno is a Italian Sociologue , among the first Italian academics to deal with classifying the journalistic field and to study the production of televised series.

Biography

Graduate in letters of the University of Rome “Sapienza”, it is now titular professeure in sociology of the cultural processes and communications, near the same university, after several last years with the faculty of Political science Cesare Alfieri di Sostegno of the Université of Florence.

In the the Eighties it makes party of the department of English literature of the Université of Naples “Eastern” the. In company of Lidia Curti and daN Rooms, it introduces the concept of Cultural anthropology in Italy.

In 1986, with his/her companion Giovanni Bechelloni, it founds the Osservatorio sulla fiction italiana (in French: Observatory of the Italian fiction ) and association It Campo (in French: the Field ) which is managed by Osservatorio. It also coordinates the draft study of televisual industry EuroFiction , project also managed by Osservatorio. It directs the advanced laboratory of creation and production of televisual fictions , established with Milan with the Scuola nazionale di cinema (in French: Italian National school of the cinema ).

She also taught with the Université of Naples “Frederic II” and with the Université of Salerno.

Fields of studies

Its fields of interests, separately the televised series, turn around the evolution of the journalistic style compared to the influence of television and the new media, with an special attention paid to the sensationnalism of information (from where the Néologisme faction , born from a fusion of the English words fact (meaning fact) and fiction ), like with the roles of the women. Milly Buonanno is one of the pionnières of the efforts of classification of the sociological studies and communincations.
