Military district of the North-Caucasus
The military District of the North-Caucasus is a military District of the Armed forces of the federation of Russia. It included the Armed 58e, two another divisions of motorized fusiliers, the 4th Air Army, and other units. The commander of the district also directs the Caspian Fleet of the Russian Marine.
The military district the Northern Caucasus was creates in May 1918 by gathering parties of the military districts the Caucasus and Khar' kov. During the Russian Civil war, the district had two missions: defense of the territory countered the forces of the White Russia, and creation of forces sufficient for the defense of the new Soviet State. In November 1919 the First Army of Cavalry was created under Budenniy. When the Civil war was finished, the raison d'être of the District was to form an administrative (QG) general headquarter for the Soviet forces and, during war, to found a general headquarter for a group of armies (which is called a Face). The District controlled all the forces is the Volga with the Don, and south of the Caucases.
During the Second world war, was set up the 19th Army with the forces already present in the District, under the old command of the forces of the district, the Lieutenant-general of Army Ivan Koniev. Were also formed the 50e and 53e Divisions of Cavalry, which have join the Face of the West. At the end of 1941, a small zone of the district was occupied by the Germans for one short period, and in summer 1942 the whole territory of the district was occupied by the Germans, during the German offensive in direction of Stalingrad and of Caucases. The general headquarter of the district was integrated in Front of the North-Caucasus on May 19th, 1942, and the remainder of the HQ was dissolves in September 1942.
58e army
The armed 58e was creates in November 1941 for the first time, in the Siberian military District. It included the 362e, 364e, 368e, 370e, 380e, 384e divisions of fusiliers and the 77e division of cavalry. After its créatop, it was moved in the military District Archangelsk to take part in its defense. In May 1942 it became the 3rd Armor-plated Army. It disappeared and was reformed with two new recoveries during the 2nd World war. It was recreates in 1995 in the military district of the North-Caucasus.
