Mike Leigh

Mike Leigh is a director of theater and English realizer born on February 20th, 1943 in the suburbs of Manchester.

Initially author and director of theater, it carries out its first film in 1971 by adapting one of its part Bleak moments: the film obtains two Grands Prix (festivals of Locarno and Chicago) but is been sulky by the public. Mike Leigh returns then to the theater and parralèlement turns of many telefilms. It carries out a return to the cinema in 1988 with High Hopes, produced by television. It obtains its first public recognition in 1993 with Naked, will follow Secrets and lies (1996) which will obtain the gold Palm to the Cannes festival.
