Miguel Maura

Miguel Maura Gamazo , born the December 13rd 1887 with Madrid. Wire of the politician Antonio Maura and Montaner. During the year 1916, it was delegated to the the Cortes by Alicante.

Partisan of the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, it had evolved to a moderate republicanism. In 1930, it belongs to the first republican revolutionary committee and it signed in August the Agreement of Saint-Sebastien . It was stopped after the insurrection of Jaca in December 1930.

When IIe République was proclaimed in April 1931, he becomes minister in the provisional government of Niceto Alcalá Zamora. He resigned in October 1931 after the approval of the articles of the contrary Constitution to the Catholic church.

At the beginning of the civil war must leave for the exile. In 1953, it turns over in Spain and in 1962, it publishes its book: Asi cayó Alfonso XII ( How XIII fell Alfonso).
