Michele Barzach , born the July 11th 1943 with Casablanca (Morocco), is Médecin Gynécologue, Psychanalyste and political Femme. She was Ministre for health and the family in the government Chirac of 1986 with 1988.

Biography

The May 6th 1986, is one week after the Catastrophe of Tchernobyl and the passage of the radioactive cloud on the France and the Benelux, it judged that the cloud of Tchernobyl had not contaminated the France and that there was no health risk.

She then exerts her supervision on the Central service of protection against the ionizing rays (SCPRI) directed by Professor Pierre Pellerin.

She illustrates herself in particular by two official statements calling the population and in particular the expectant mothers not to take any special precaution. This whereas an Interministerial meeting specified concrete and evaluated manner the state of health hazard of France at this time.

One year later, the May 13rd 1987, it signs a decree which authorizes the free sale of syringes in pharmacy, measurement which will allow a limitation of the contamination of the drug addicts by various viruses, in particular HIV and VHC, and will sign the beginning of a policy of reduction of the risks in this matter, in opposition to the law of 1970 on drugs.

It was unfortunate candidate at the management Committee of the RPR, to be released from any responsibility thereafter, because of its bringing together with the movement transpartisan of “Renovating”, incarnated in 1989 - 1990, within the party gaullist, by Michel Noir, Philippe Séguin, Etienne Pinte and Michel Barnier, joining in particular in March 1990 the Force movement plain. It loses one partial legislation in the fifteenth district vis-a-vis the mayor Rene Galy-Dejean in 1991. She nevertheless is elected European Député in June 1989 on list UDF-RPR of Valery Giscard d'Estaing.

In 1996, it animates with Simone Veil a Proclamation for the Parity in policy, which will end in a constitutional law in 1999.

It forms today in particular part of the the World Health Organization. It is also president of Association the Friends of the Funds World Europe which aims at promoting the actions of the Funds World in its fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and paludism.
